Privacy Policy
This website collects one thing: the enquiry you choose to send us. This page explains what happens to it, who else can see it, and how to have it removed.

1Who is responsible
Smart-Eye (“Smart-Eye”, “we”, “us”) operates this website and decides how the information described here is used. In the language of the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (the “NDPA”), we are the data controller.
You can reach us at info@smarteyediagnostics.com. We are based in Abuja, Nigeria.
2What this policy covers
This policy covers this website only. It does not cover the Smart-Eye application used inside a laboratory, which is governed by the agreement signed with that laboratory, nor any other site we link to.
3No patient data reaches this website
This matters more than anything else on this page, so it is stated plainly. The Smart-Eye model runs on the handset at the bench. Blood-film images and any information about a patient stay on that device and inside the laboratory. They are never sent to this website, and we do not receive them through it.
If you are writing to us about a specific patient, case or result, please do not put clinical details or anything that could identify a patient into the enquiry form. Tell us you have a case to discuss and we will arrange a route that is appropriate for it.
4What we collect
What you type into the pilot enquiry form. Your name, your role, your laboratory's name, its location, your approximate daily microscopy volume, and whatever you write in the free-text field. All of these are given voluntarily; only your name and your laboratory's name are required for the form to send.
What you send us by email. If you write to info@smarteyediagnostics.com directly, we hold that message and your email address.
Ordinary server records. Whoever hosts this site keeps standard technical logs — IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps — as every web server does, to serve pages and to detect abuse. We do not use these logs to build a profile of you.
5What we do not do
We set no cookies. We run no analytics, no advertising pixels, and no third-party tracking scripts of any kind. Nothing on this site follows you to other sites, and we do not sell, rent or trade anyone's information.
The typefaces this site uses are served from our own domain rather than from a font provider, so simply reading these pages does not announce your visit to a third party.
6Why we hold it, and on what basis
We use enquiry details for one purpose: to understand your laboratory and to reply to you about a Smart-Eye pilot. We may also keep an aggregate count of enquiries — how many laboratories got in touch, in which states — to plan where to run pilots. That count contains no names.
Our lawful basis under section 25 of the NDPA is your consent, given when you choose to send the form, together with our legitimate interest in responding to an enquiry you have made of us. We do not use your details for marketing unrelated to the enquiry you sent.
7Who else sees it
FormSubmit (formsubmit.co) carries the enquiry form from your browser to our inbox. It processes what you typed in order to deliver it, and its servers are outside Nigeria.
Our email provider stores the resulting message, as it does all our correspondence.
Our hosting provider serves these pages and keeps the technical logs described above.
Beyond those, enquiries are seen only by the people at Smart-Eye who need to act on them. We disclose information to anyone else only where the law requires it — for example a valid order from a court or a regulator.
8Information that leaves Nigeria
Because the form relay and our email provider operate outside Nigeria, sending an enquiry means the details in it are transferred abroad. Section 41 of the NDPA permits this where the transfer is necessary to perform a contract or a pre-contractual step you have asked for, or where you have consented having been told of the risk. Sending the form is that consent. If you would rather your details stayed on Nigerian soil, write to us at info@smarteyediagnostics.com instead and say so.
9How long we keep it
We keep enquiry correspondence for as long as the conversation is live, and for up to two years afterwards so that we can pick up a discussion where it left off. After that it is deleted. If a pilot goes ahead, the resulting records are governed by the agreement signed for it rather than by this policy. You can ask us to delete your details sooner at any time.
10Your rights
Under the NDPA you have the right to:
- ask what we hold about you, and get a copy of it;
- have anything inaccurate corrected;
- have it deleted;
- restrict or object to how we are using it;
- receive it in a portable form, or have it sent elsewhere;
- withdraw your consent, which does not undo what was already done with it;
- complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission if you think we have handled it wrongly.
Write to info@smarteyediagnostics.com to exercise any of these. We will respond within 30 days, and we will not charge you for a first request. We may ask you to confirm who you are before acting, so that we do not disclose your details to somebody else.
11Keeping it safe
The site is served over HTTPS, and access to the inbox that receives enquiries is limited to the people who need it and protected by multi-factor authentication. No transmission over the internet is ever completely secure, so please use judgement about what you put into a web form — see clause 3. If a breach occurs that is likely to put anyone at risk, we will notify the Nigeria Data Protection Commission within 72 hours and tell the people affected.
12Children
This site is meant for laboratory and clinical professionals. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has sent us something, tell us at info@smarteyediagnostics.com and we will delete it.
13Changes to this policy
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of the page. Where a change materially affects how we use information already given to us, we will say so on this page rather than relying on you to notice.
14Contact
Questions, requests and complaints about privacy all go to the same place: info@smarteyediagnostics.com. If you are not satisfied with our answer you can take it to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
